This is close enough

This is close enough

I sit in silence

I feel your aches

And know that you see beyond

The yearn of my outline

You lay your hand

You rescue me

From the dark safety of my hiding place

Into the rays of passersby

We pass with barely a glance

And explain the magic of all

We have found and shared through whispered secrets

I am lost, uncontrolled

Reassured by your touch,  though

Your hold frightens

Awash in your gaze

Your immeasurable energy

As your lashes fall soft, over

And over

And over

A scarf laying alone, left behind

Each fibre teased apart by time

When draped over your shoulders steadfast

And hugging close around my neck

Look, don't touch

And see me

Too late, awakened

I Don't Fear Our Conversations

I Don't Fear Our Conversations
