‘But do you know?’ ‘Are you certain?’ ‘You’ll figure it out eventually’. These are common responses when I tell people that I’m asexual. Oftentimes, asexuality is portrayed as abnormal, and that eventually, an interest in sex will develop and that we are simply late bloomers. Taking this more literally, I chose to depict asexuality using flowers, which sometimes, don’t bloom on time. At the same time, some flowering plants reproduce asexually and are never questioned as ‘unnatural’. Perhaps the same should be said of people as well.
