Secret Garden

[Acrylic on wood panels.] I created this triptych "Secret Garden" to represent each facet of my queer identity. "Daffodil" for asexuality, the first identity I discovered, because this asexually reproducing flower can symbolize new beginnings. "Stump" is my attempt to visually portray how I felt when learning I was aromantic, and also a small self-reminder that the heartwood is the strongest timber in a tree. Lastly, I painted "Cells" because I only see myself as a collection of smaller parts assembled into one individual with no particular attachment to any gender. The three paintings can be arranged in any order and orientation to symbolize the potential fluidity of human sexuality and gender during a person's lifetime.
